Even though the odds point to them missing the playoffs, there's still 20 possible points to be gained. Stranger things have happened! I hold out hope until they're officially eliminated. |

I hope this team makes the playoffs, even though it seems unlikely. I'm kind of torn over being first round fodder for Tampa Bay but I think the experience would be good for the younger players.
Whether they make it or not, I'm very proud of how the team came together in the second half of this season and will feel that way still if they continue down this stretch playing well, even if they miss the playoffs.
That said, next year absolutely cannot start with the same hiccups this season did. Its too deep of a hole to dig out of if you play as bad as they did starting out this year.

I'm pretty comfortable with the notion that this team is not making the playoffs.
They aren't good enough and they aren't deep enough.
All I want to see at this point is the younger group of players playing well and contributing. |

I’m ok with missing the playoffs mainly because of the growth of key players that are going to be critical for our future like TK, Provy, Patrick, Sanheim, Lindblom, Hart and now Myers. It’s also great to see Couts improve even more and see we are getting our moneys worth with JVR. Plus, you never know if we strike some luck again in the lottery which would be unreal. I’m also ok with missing playoffs because I think there will be a quick turnaround between this and next season.
This is arguably going to be the biggest summer for the Flyers in a long-time. We have the cap space to add in FA, the assets to make an impact trade (if needed) and we have young guys who know they need to have a good summer to make the big club such as NAK, Misha, Frost, Rubstov and maybe even Ratcliffe. I suppose you can add the NCAA guys if they sign with us when their season ends. I think Gordon deserves consideration for being our head coach, but if not, we also have a chance to potentially add one of the better coaches to coach in the NHL. It’s going to be a very, very exciting summer for us. |

Can't wait for the annual Summer debate of whether Couturier is a legitimate number one center. He's no Kopitar, after all. More of a Primeau, but not good on faceoffs. |

What are your thoughts on the icetime doled out to young players like Konecny and Sanheim overall and certain parts of the game. Konecny hardly played in the 3rd period down a goal. Haag played more than Sanheim in the 3rd. Myers played 12 minutes in the game. Bad coaching? |

I look at it this way. You can't be out of something you were never in to begin with. It's nice to have games matter in March , but aside from winning they just aren't getting the help they need either. |

Wait. Who was centering the first line last night? And when was Keith Primeau known to be a poopty player? |

Yes. With all the divisional games and having to jump several teams, you just isn't possible to see all the teams collapse at once.
It's fine though. I'm encouraged by many aspects of the team. Something to build on next year. As mentioned. We just had to become more consistent and eliminate these win 10 lose 10 streaks.
I personally believe that with better d and goaltending this will happen. Hart by himself has shown an ability to win games himself and can stop a bad run. I hope they run the table, but even if they do they might not make it. |

With the Flyers down a goal for most of the 3rd period, shouldn't Sanheim, who offensively has been their hottest defenseman be almost double shifted in the 3rd to try and tie the game up. Shouldn't Myers have played more with his skills?
In full disclosure, I didn't see the 3rd period so I'm unaware of any game situations that may have prevented that from happening. |

In order for use to make the playoffs we NEED to find a way to get a W vs WSH and hope a team ahead of us goes on a losing streak |

Sanheim also had some of the longest shifts in the second. There were quite a bit of special teams time in that 3rd as well. I cant recall if Sanheim is on PK or not. |

Jackets arent the only team that can drop out, Sens also have nothing left to lose. Jackets can easily take them too lightly. Same Senators beat St. Louis the other day |

They lose in regulation to Montreal or in any of the 2 to Carolina it's "unofficially officially " over.
Agree there is definitely reason for optimism next season. As long as the guys we know who will be here next season are playing to their capabilities plus make a few upgrades in the summer, hopefully this will be the start of turning that from just being a bubble team. |

I think they killed 2-3 penalties, SanHeim and Provy had some monster long shifts, total TOI for them was strong. |

Flyers committed 3 penalties in the 3rd period. There was 14 minutes of ES ice time available in the 3rd period. Sanhiem played 4 and change. |
